OPPC Ministry Teams

 

The Ministry Teams (MT) of OPPC work together to provide leadership in key areas that enables OPPC run smoothly and carry out effective ministry. Each MT has a chair and vice chair, as well as members-at-large. Members and friends of OPPC are welcome to contribute to the work of the church by joining a Ministry Team. If you are interested in a particular team, please contact the Chair, listed below.

Ministry teams meet monthly, except for July and December, usually on the second Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m.  There are some exceptions, so consult the church calendar for specific dates and times of the meetings.

We invite you to become involved with one of our teams. It is a wonderful way to contribute to our faith community, as well as getting to know some delightful people!

 

Administration and Finance Ministry Team – Mick Griffin: mickg16@aol.com
The Administration and Finance Ministry Team (AFMT) is an oversight and advisory group, offering recommendations to the Session regarding budgeting, accounting, and internal controls. AFMT also has the responsibility of completing an annual audit of the church’s financial records.

Christian Education Ministry Team –Sandy Wallace: sandy.wallace3@mac.com
OPPC's Christian Education Ministry Team (CEMT) provides teachers, leaders, curriculum and resources for the faith formation journeys of all ages and stages of life.  Sunday morning classes, small group ministries and other opportunities are offered. Disciple Bible Study courses and Financial Peace University are additional programs offered.

Property Ministry Team - Jamie Owens: owensj34@aol.com
Property Ministry Team (PMT) members maintain God’s house here at OPPC by preserving and improving all areas of our church’s physical plant, inside and out. Property Team members prioritize pending projects as well as long range planning for our facility. The PMT also coordinates volunteers who are willing to give of their time and talent to accomplish repair/maintenance jobs around the church plant.

Health Ministry Team – Sherry Pomeroy, RN, PhD: sherry@oppchurch.org
The mission of the Health Ministry Team (HMT) is the intentional care of the body, mind, and spirit to maintain or regain health and wholeness. Knowledge of health care and related disciplines with spiritual care from the HMT to advocate for the needs of individuals and families from both our congregation and the community at large.
The HMT meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

Hospitality/Fellowship Ministry Team – Doug Carpenter: dougcarpenter@roadrunner.com
The Hospitality/Fellowship Ministry Team (HFMT) is charged with offering opportunities for social interaction of all those who enter the doors of OPPC.  A variety of social and service events are coordinated by this ministry team and all in the community are welcome to join in.  Among the activities are a Birthday Party for Jesus and an Easter Egg Hunt.  The MFMT works closely with the Membership Ministry Team to encourage all who are interested to become invloved.

Membership Ministry Team - Martha Feidt: fafaopny@verizon.net
The Membeship Ministry Team extends a warm welcome to anyone making their way to OPPC, as well as those considering joining our community of faith.  MMT members also strive to help new members become familiar with OPPCE and find ways to actively particpate in the life of the church.

Mission Ministry Team – Mary Wolf: opmarywolf@gmail.com
OPPC’s Mission Ministry Team (MMT) has both local and global components.  Financial support is provided to many organizations, locally and across the globe, including Crossroads Springs Africa in Kenya, Congo Leadership Initiative, Friends of Night People in Buffalo, Family Justice Center, Southtowns Satellite; Churches in Action and providing shelter for homeless families through Family Promise program.

Worship Ministry Team - Doug McMahon: mill1276@aol.com
The Worship Ministry Team (WMT) strives to make worship experiences at OPPC meaningful, resonant, and deeply spiritual. They utilize creative ways to engage the congregation and structure Sunday worship times for the comfort and spiritual growth of all.

The WMT welcomes participation in the team through:

  • Sunday Greeter/Coffee Server

  • Serve as an usher, helping collect the weekly offering, making sure everyone has a place to sit, and handing out bulletins.

  • Sing in the choir or share your musical talent

  • Help prepare Communion bread and juice on Communion Sundays

  • Help set up decoration in the Sanctuary for Christmas, Easter, Advent Spiral, Service of Remembrance, and other special services.
